such as a?

That's a question that only the buyer can answer. For me, it's an MPV, since I never go anywhere without the kids. For my wife, it's an A6, since she likes her cars like she likes her men--big and powerful!

I drove an '89 626 for like a million years without any trouble. Seems to me if I was looking for something similar today I would take a hard look at the Altima, and even (shudder) the Camry.

I've always been a firm believer in the multi-vehicle approach. If I need a truck, I have a truck. If I need a minivan, I have a minivan. If I need to get crazy, I have the T2. It's a bit tougher for those who don't have a car collection, because many buyers are going to be looking for something a little bit "sporty" and that automatically disqualifies it as a truly reliable (and economical) daily driver.

Oh, in that case I'd suggest the Cadillac CTS-V.

Me too.

Can I recommend an E39 5 series? If you don't care about your gas mileage go for the M5, if you do try the 528 or 530. Personally I like the 540, but will upgrade to the M5 eventually. Seats 4 very comfortably, comes with a 6 speed manual, rear wheel drive, good handling. Will also hold it's own against most ricers.
