V8-swap Progress/pics

Actually, I'm going to leave the rearend as-is for now. If it grenades, I'll replace it. Lots of guys out there are launching at 7k rpms on slicks and haven't blown it up yet, although most of them are probably running stronger axles. I won't be launching it hard or with slicks so I should be able to get some good longevity out of it. With the car being so light, traction is going to be in short demand anyway, so no reason to force the issue.

Yeah, sure is. Well, it has 5 "useable" gears, 6th is really just a huge overdrive. .50 actually. That's why you see 25-30mpg out of the big ole V8.

Well, to be perfectly honest, it's not really costing me anything except an ***-load of time. The difference between the total expenditure for all the V8 parts and how much money I got from selling all my rotary parts are within earshot of each other.
It really just comes down to having the time to do it all, and it IS extremely time-consuming.

...more like a pissy boy. I have been in a foul mood for quite a while now. That's the first suggestion I offer anyone that's going to attempt the swap; get yourself a xanax prescription first.
