How can it go 0-62 in 5.7 seconds and the next 38 mph take 11.5 seconds? That seems a lil odd to me.

Lotus didn't do too well with their last attempt at a $30K sports car, The Elise looks great, but too light for the US, Might as well get a Yamaha R1. IMO
The Lotus Elan is the next generation sports car. It encompasses state of the art technology and breaks new ground in ride and handling. Powered by a 1588cc twin cam 16 valve turbocharged engine that produces 162 bhp, the Elan goes from 0 to 60 in 6.7 seconds and attains a top speed of 137 mph. The chassis is a hybrid of Lotus' classic steel backbone mated with advanced composites to create one the stiffest cars in the world. The Elan presents the technology by which all others will be measured and has been acknowledged as the fastest point to point car available.
