because they are a good design, one of the best for optimizing the strength to weight ratio of any material.



the bending moments are the greatest at the center of the rim, so that part is thicker. good design



the "webbing" integrates triangulation, and triangles are the best design for structures since they cannot deform without deforming the sides.



as a result of the above, those style of rims are the best design for both lateral and longitudinal loading, optimizing stiffness and thus allowing a lower weight for a set strength.


I'm aware of the physics involved...and that's great...however it still makes me think of the SRT-4 when I see that style so I don't like it. Kinda like I don't like the FD 99 spec wing cuz you see similar ones on Saturns all the time. To me, it cheapens the appearance of an otherwise distinct and unique car. Just thoughts...

18x8 +38 and 18x9 +35, the rear is about as low an offset as I'l ever want to see on a car.. we'll see if it rubs, lol.

Rishie sold the same setup to a dude on the other forum, so I'm expecting this to work.
