Tribute Accident Photos

Decided to take the hard route to get my Mercedes back, just wrecked my dads Tribute. Have not had ANY accidents in years, but my streak came to end.
Still somewhat baffled by the whole deal. I'm going about 15 to 20 mph, and the guy in front of me comes to a dead stop, no big deal I've got plenty of room. So I put the breaks on just as it goes from pavement to a total muddy mess, the car whips the wheel out of my hand and turns into the barricade three inches from the road.
Looking at the car there is no damage to fender... not sure how i pulled that off. But the CV axle and the a-arm are busted... i'm wondering if one of these busted with the combination breaking and the pot hole??

It's actually not that much damage, amazingly it didn't dent the fender or anything. If you look at the photo you can see where vehicles are tearing up the dirt as they bottom out, i was breaking from about 20mph, when I entered that rut. I'm not sure if it broke something or what, but the truck dove right and of course I had about 3 inches to wall. I think something might have broken in the front end when I was braking and came into the rut, but have no way of knowing.
Yea I'm wondering about the county in this case as you can see there are no signs marking the construction area. There was a line of traffic backing up so I was already slowing, then the guy in front of comes to a complete stop, which wasn't an issue I had plenty of room, then all of a sudden i'm in the wall!

Yeah when i was working for this local paving company we ended up paying for alot of accidents/damage if the driver could show that the road caused it. Private corporation vs the county/state (it depends on who the road belongs to) but nonetheless....I'd definitely give it a try.
