i had a lady with a taurus come in with 100k miles on her original fron pads and rotors...and they still had *some* meat left on them. had to make sure she realized that was abnormal and shed probably need to get new brakes again before she hit 200k miles.

I'm sure the guy that blew up the TDI was probably drifting it!
They are both about 40 years old, almost all highway miles as they have a long commute.
I'm sure the cars are nice, I would drive a new Jetta diesel as a company car, but we sell them at about 100K anyway. The Jetta would work pretty good for that, because there are plenty of VW idiots out their who would pay top dollar even though the car is about to come out of warranty.

Problem with VW is when they started supplying the north american market with VWs made in Mexico.
The mexicans don't speak german, and the germans don't speak spanish.
Toyotas are solid. But I would like to comment that their cars are kinda boring. They are good, but boring. However I quite like the brand new IS250 w/ sport package in a 6spd manual and rear wheel drive option.
Not the quickets entry level luxury car, but it's rare enough and you don't get the presumed look of a$$hole in a bmw 3 series.

Toyota isn't the new Cadillac, it's the new Chevrolet--the cheap, boring car for the masses. Did I mention they were boring?
they are so boring you forget how boring they really are

speaking of the lexus IS series, anyone seen the Lexus IS-F, pretty hot, they say theyre going after the M3 with it, dont know about that but it looks nice for a 4-door. lexus is coming out with a whole "F series" to compete against the BMW "M series" on all their cars.
