I was wondering, can a title be created for something? Here is the scenario....

My friend bought an old *** motorcycle off some guy he knows. The problem is that the guy he bought it off is a total dipshit. The guy never got the title signed over to him when he bought it ages ago, and has since lost the title anyway.

If my friend went to the DMV and told them what happened could they like create a new title or something?

Are you sure...My uncle has a truck that he has owned for a long time. He enever recieved the title and the car doesn't run. He fixed it up and it works now but he only did that because he knew he wouldn't be able to sell it. What kind of records would you need assuming I am wrong...

in NJ at least you can get a title reissued. not sure what you need to get it transfered prolly just insurance and registration or something.

it goers on the cars perm. record tho, and comes up on carfax reports as a new title being issued.

there is a condition where the original owner can file for a lost title, then they can transfer that title to you. If you figure a way to do it without having to go through the original owner, aka creative mechanics lein or something let me know i am VERY interested in this matter. I have a title that was signed on the back and filled out but never filed, so i can't fill it out to myself obviously and i have no way to contact the original owner or the guy that signed it.

just call your local DMV and ask them. I deal with mine on a daily basis. The should have some kind of form for pretty much any circumstance, needing at most a notarized signature.
