you can use flux core and gas the results will be great, but like banzai said, wrong tool for the job, you might as well go to Wal-Mart and buy the 99 dollar 20% duty cycle one. then you would be better off just jb welding it or using a battery and a couple wires to weld it up.

Or do what i do go to crappy T and buy a welder, then once you are satisied with the results, take it back saying you were not happy ith it. works all the time.
