If I had trouble deciding between a new car and an older one, I'd choose the new one, for the warranty, and you don't have to worry about what the previous owner did, or what they're lying about.

I'd go STI...it's something a little different. Sure Supras are awesome cars too, but there's getting to be a lot of them on the road. I'm sold on AWD too...there's nothin quite like spinnin all four!
"Getting to be a lot of them on the road"?! LOL, is toyota secretly making more of them?

They are and will always be more rare than a STI, just look at production numbers.

And brandon:

LOL Did you see top gears review of the rx8? "The problem here is that it seems like the executives at mazda didn't know what they wanted to make! Is it a sports car? Is it a passenger car/sedan?!"

Rx8 is a sports coupe I think, or sports sedan. If you go to a consumer guide (auto.consumerguide.com) you'll see the tag for the Supra being "Sports Car" and the WRX as a "Subcompact Car" or something. I think they say "Sports Car" for rx8 so you win that one :P

You'd be hard pressed to find a nice supra for under 25K. And one with low mileage would be at least 30K. I mean for a used car thats A LOT. And are you very apprehensive about buying something used...not "truly" knowing the past history of it?

On the other hand the Scooby isn't as pretty...not as moddable (yet)...but like someone else said has about the same stock performance, can be had brand new, fits 4 people, and handles nicely. They key is that it is brand new...you decide the fate for it

RWD is definitely more fun...but how often will you be doing burnouts, donuts, drifts? On a daily basis? If so then go with something rwd.

Unless it's wet or you are going off road, AWD is a disadvantage, and despite the Supra's apparent drag shortcomings, it will blow the socks off a Subaru on any track with corners.

that was a hard choice...I love subies supras rx-7's I own a subie and a 7 & have had a supra...the thing that pushed me twords supra is the amount of power they can make on the stock block. and they still look great for an 11 year old body style...same with the RX-7

If he is looking at a supra because of the engine and it's capabilities, shouldn't he consider the lexus sc300 from around '94. Didn't they have the same engine as the supras, just not turbo, thus making it very capable of handling a turbo, with a little aftermarket ecu magic.

Also I know I have seen tyhem going for like 12K with moderate mileage which allows a hefty budget for some initial mods....like the turbo, fuel system, and ecu to make it as fast if not faster than the STI.

Oh but I vote Supra otherwise.

I don't know, the Supra's WAY TOO overpriced for what you get. The STi doesn't pack enough heat for the price tag (bullshit LOL), and since I love the SRT-4, that's what I'm gonna go with. Plus, Van's are phat yo.
