OK fair enough - but that BMW engine isn't far off a race engine and has German precision engineering on its side. Regardless it's not a million miles from 70lb ft/litre and certainly not the difference between "over 1000ft/lbs" and "738".

How is that number hard to believe from a twin turbo intercooled 6.5l V12 (AMG variant)?
The STi makes 120 ft lbs/l and the Evo 8 makes 136.5 ft lbs/l. 738 ft lbs from a 6.5l is only 113 ft lbs/l. The Evo MR makes 143 ft lbs/l, and 1000 ft lbs from a 6.5l would be 154 ft lbs/l. That isnt very much of a stretch.
