The reality of it is, Bluray is the better of the two formats, i think it would have been silly if there is only going to be one hd disc format for it to be HD-DVD. However, like I said I am not sure it's really that big of an issue at all, I'm not convinced that by the time bluray players are "worth it" to the average consumer that bluray will even be the best medium for hd movie delivery. I think it's going to be quite some time before you can convince people that a $400 bluray player is $300 better then a regular dvd player.
If there's a service that can deliver hd movies via the internet for one flat monthly price like netflix I'd be all over it. We all like convenience and nothing would be more convenient then setting up your online hd movie download device with a que (xbox already does it) to download movies while you sleep. You could have 10 or 12 movies sitting there waiting to be watched and when you delete one another goes into the download que. You would never be waiting on anything, never go to the movie store or for that matter ship yer discs back and wait for new ones (which is a 3 day deal at best).

they make a "server" that takes a minute to install thru broadband connection and you can rent HD movies, tv shows, reg. movies, etc.. for pretty cheap, and its supposed to take under 10 seconds.
I forget the brand or the name of the thing, but it was pretty cheap and simple at like $299.
Cheap and simple compared to having a computer in your livingroom.

That's very few people (vosko) , if you had unlimited downloads you could watch that same movie anytime, so I dunno that most people will agree. Plus, I dunno about most of you, but I rarely buy movies anymore, I just rent, so for me the only that changes is i dont have to go to the mailbox, stick the dvd in, watch it and return it to the mailbox, we're Americans, we work 3 jobs just to pay the bills, we don't have time for this ****
Apple TV is very close as is the xbox, but neither have unlimited rentals, that's what's kept PPV from being big and it will do the same for downloads.
