Sony unveils OLED televison
I have boxes of movies I never watch anymore, for what I paid for them I could have rented them 3-4-5 times.
Not to mention all my older movies are not full screen or HD.
Who knows in 10 years what movies will be in, so why own outdated ****?

We have the classics, which we watch now and then, but we've found the same thing as you rob, you buy all these movies watch them once and stick them on the shelf, and eventually fill yer garbage can with VHS tapes cause you dont even have a player to watch them. We rarely buy movies anymore.
**** is funny because there are movies I own I dont put in and watch, but if im flipping through the channels and one of those movies are on I watch it, sometimes even if it has commercials.

Holy **** we do that all the time, i'll be sitting there listening to edited language going "wut the hell why are we watching this", but in my defense and prolly yours i rarely watch it from start to finish, i usually watch half of it or wutever.... meanwhile the dvd collects dust.
I don't own a tv so I can own relate your discussion through music. My GM gives me cd's to borrow and burn if I like the music or the artist, I'll immediately go out and buy the same album. I have quite a few albums that are still in their wrapper on my shelves. But I am supporting the artist and if something ever happens and I lose all the music on my computer or ipod, I have backups of it all. PS vinyl is still the best way to go for music.

I operate in a similar way with cds, but i am also about to bail on that plan too, i'm pretty sure my future music purchase will be digital downloads, hell i have 3 mp3 players and my laptop backups 15 times a day so I dont forsee losing my whole collection.
I know with netflix there are a select (ie, crappy) few movies you can watch online, and it's immediate. I could see them expanding that service.
But I'd rather dl to my xbox (I didn't even know that existed), since it's hooked up to my fiber optic surround sound, and component video to the widescreen tv. Rather than watching it on my midget laptop screen.

i've dl'd moveis to the xbox, they cost 4 to 6, its a great service, but costs way to much. Netflix dl's can only be watched on yer laptop, not tv and they arent in resolution to watch on yer tv.
MS and netflix are supposedly working on something, we'll see. Apple TV is a similar service to xbox's, its costs are similar too. Again, apples cheapest apple tv is $229, i dont think that's going to win it's way into people's home's all that quickly at that price. I dont think it would be unlikely to see products like apple tv on the shelves for next to nothing with say a 1 year subscription to their monthly service in the very new future, but much like sony used the ps3 to give blueray a leg up I think it will be machines like the xbox and the ps3 (if they are interested in that service) will get the service out there and some income coming in first.
