I picked up a sweet boosted c5 not long ago and had it sitting next to a z06 that i had been driving around. I've come to realize something... you catch a lot of flack for driving these cars!

Why must these vehicles be such white trash dream machines?

Discuss.

It's just jealousy! Drive that bad boy and apologize to no one! They are not worthy to sniff your tire smoke OR your farts.

And what, exactly, is your point? I see a lot of people behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 that fit that description. Fact of the matter is, a lot of people don't have the coin to spend on a relatively expensive and impractical car until they have achieved a bit of success in life. For many, along with success comes grey hair. For the very young and not yet successful we see the plethora of crappy Hondas and 20-year old Mazdas. The Corvette is widely regarded as an amazing performance bargain that can run with the likes of Ferraris and Lamborghinis. If it takes a certain amount of wisdom and grey hair to recognize this fact, then so be it. I still say the Corvette's detractors consist primarily of snot-nosers who could only afford a Honda.

Damn, I must be getting old!

Ah HA... see the 2nd Gens are for the young and unsuccessful. 1st gens are a true classic, therefore showing that I am successful. It takes a successful man to drive a vintage foreign sports car. It's like a Ferrarri Dino, right? RIGHT? /win

we've got a different demographic around here, but EVERY corvette driver is a chunky, grey haired, bearded, hawaiian shirt khaki shorts, hat optional, guy.

you see all kinds of other people driving the "other" cars, theres a lady at the gym with a new maserati...

ive got 2 examples: back in the day the 1st gens took home all the GTU trophies, and a few GTO ones. winning at the 24 hour races, was against some pretty exotic machinery.

2: the F355 and F430 challenge ferraris that go racing with us have both been rear ended, more than once. if you're playing dyno, the fastest spec miata, keeps up with the F430 down the main straight at thunderhill.
