[quote name='rfreeman27' date='Jul 19 2005, 05:38 PM']Phenix, you are so confident in yourself and your views, but you cannot take being called a name?
go cry somewhere.
Think about what sindewinder said. Look at yourself from someone else's eyes. From the way you talk, you make it seem like there are NO faults in your beliefs. I have a good friend that i work with that acts similar to you. Whenever i bring up inconsistencies in the bible, or question him he automatically goes into an almost rehersed word-by-word responce that every other bible humping young lifer says.
You really have been brainwashed. Think of something ON YOUR OWN, or, think about this. What if you had been born into a muslim family? What if they had tought you their beliefs in the same manner your family has shown you? You wouldnt be a christian! Does that make what you believe correct and what everyone else believes is wrong?
Mark- we might not agree on politics but i think we have arrived at a neutral ground LOL

"Young lifer" .... exactly what he is. And I'm done debating with him, its obvious it wont go anywhere. Hes WAY too confident in his views to even consider the option he might be a little bit.... wrong?
Anyways, religious fanatics, especially young ones kinda **** me off because they are so stupid. The are so impressionable its scary. Tell them to do something in the name of god, and they will do it. Oh well, its not my life.
As for my posts, I dont try to come off as a jerk or anything. Hell i HARDLY ever post anymore because I dont want to get into arguments with any of you. It seems like thats all that happend in gen D. So I'll just go back to my lurker corner and watch.

LOL are you serious? I didn't say I couldn't "Handle" it. It just makes no sense, and belittles any arguement he has. Come on man, its common sense.
Ahh, so you have a friend who has a trained response to your supposed inconsistencies, what else do you expect? Once you find reasoning for a supposed "Conflict" in what the bible said, more than one person will agree on it. Your proposed inconsistency is probably just as "typical" as the christian response. A lot of it is arguable, as far as interpretation, but if you want to dive into that mess we can...
I haven't been brainwashed. I was born into a non-religious family. My father was Jewish and my mother was Roman Catholic, so what do you have to say now? exactly. I am not the same "religion" as I was born into, which was basically nothing for a while.
Again, your response is from a feeling of "threat" from my confidence. My confidence doesn't come from a force-fed Christian doctrine, it comes from finding the actual True and Living God, for myself, by myself, after all outside distractions were turned away.
And just because I'm confident, doesn't mean I'm ignorant to other faiths, or that I'm being oppressive about my faith. Again, it's all about my confidence. But there's nothing wrong with me being all for my own religion! I don't kill people that don't believe in it, and I sure as heck haven't tried convincing you guys otherwise, which is my whole point! You're somehow offended in my confidence, and therefore, WITHOUT KNOWING WHO I AM, you resort to quick assumptions (which is natural, which is exactly what I'm doing back, I can only know so much eh?) that I somehow didn't make this decision on my own, I'm naieve and inexperienced and yadda yadda yadda.
Once you find the answer, the truth, why can't you be confident in it? Why can't I believe mine is right? You believe your way of life is right, eh? I never said you couldn't believe that...and I never called you an ******* for believing it either.
Try and see where I'm coming from, just as you are telling me. I've been "Outside" of myself, because I spoke and acted like you until age 16, I've been on the other side of the fence.

Hardley a debate at all from you! You called me an ******* and said I was brainwashed. There was no substance to your arguement, hence why I simply posted a picture of a beautiful car...
You are seriously misled as to who you are talking to. There's a lot of things in my life "taken with a grain of salt", even advice "in the name of God" from another leader/pastor.
You don't try to come off as a Jerk? How else should "Hey *******" make you seem? You posted the same, short-tempered, "venting" style response to NoPistons94's post about his Music. I actually agreed with you to some degree, but at least you did listen to his music before judging it. But you haven't heard enough of me, from me, to "know" I'm brainwashed, or a typical Christian. OF COURSE I'll sound like some of them, we're at least somewhat inclined to speak of the same God, in the same manner. But where there is human involvement, there is room for error. Much error. The reason why I believe what I believe isn't because of some goosebump feeling, or even (as some of you assumed) that I was brought up this way! I was NEVER forced into any of it, PERIOD. I'm still not.
Don't go back to lurking, but try and prove a point with actual reasoning and experience besides name-calling and a tough-guy attitude.

[quote name='phinsup' date='Jul 19 2005, 11:23 PM']Religion seems to be a frequent argument around here as of late, always good entertainment.
I can definetely tell you not to discuss it with your devout employer....it only leads to trouble!
Funny, seems a bible thumper will take more issue to a "non believer" or rather take it more personally then when the tables are switched.
If nothing else *****, you have provided hours of entertainment forus headonists

I know. Look at this thread, though, my first post didn't even hint at a debate, it was simply how I felt about the video. I didn't start this tangent. I'm innocent!
I haven't taken much of what's been said here personally, at all. I could care less about name calling or being told I'm things I'm not, and I'm simply responding to it. But I'm just surprised nobody else can simply agree with the point I'm trying to make, which is only being proven further and further by their "stirred up" responses. They take it personal that I feel I'm right, PERIOD.
Glad I can entertain, I won't back down!

This is relatively entertaining and informative for me. But be forewarned, the name-calling needs to quit and so does bashing on people because of religion. Seeing as how you ***-clowns completely high-jacked my thread I think this is the least i can ask.
