$1200 in taxes- come on max I pay more then that in village taxes!

Between my shop and my house I pay close to $30k a year in taxes, it makes me sick.
The house was only 940 sqft on paper, in reality closer to 800 sqft... My new place is 1600.00 a year.

You know, Scott, I don't get jealous of other peoples life styles very often because I also owe nothing, work when I want and where I want, no money problems, travel the world at my leisure and all that wacky **** ... but you, make me jealous with your damn boat.

... on that note, Im going to check out a 47 foot cutter this week. We'll see what she looks like, once I get something, I'm crashing your party!

ok forget it and keep the boat you have, just seemed for all that traveling a larger boat would be better, especially if you hit some nasty weather.

having the weight in the keel and in the boat where it was meant to be is different then putting heavy countertops on cabinets that were not meant to have them. You may not have a problem you might end up having a problem, but what im saying is that by using different methods you not only get the countertops but you save money and weight.

This boat has already been halfway around the world and around south america, I feel much safer on our boat then most of the modern production boats, that said I agree with you, we bought a full keeled boat because of design and weight distribution, being full keeled ALL of the weight is below the water line, not above it. The builder Jack Jensen retired aboard a Cal 46 (same boat) and sailed around the world, he eventually passed away in the tropics and his boat was sold, i believe the owners are now in the south pacific. Bill Lapworth, the legendary designer of the boat who built boats that both changed the racing world and the cruising scene retired with his wife aboard the Cal 46, he and his wife sailed the world, he died 3 or 4 years ago and believe it or not his cal 46 was spotted in Marsh Harbour bahamas last year. For anyone actually interested here's a link of the history of the cal 46 http://www.cal46.org/hist.htm I would not add enough weight to change the capsize ratio, I have reduced a lot of weight above the waterline, like the old genset that I removed, etc....

Like I say I haven't decided if I'm doing granite or corian, my biggest reason for considering corian is that I am going to redo my desk and if I use granite I will have to put a piece of plastic over the top of it, if I use corian i won't.

For any of those interested in boat design, what to look for in a long distance cruiser, etc, etc, etc.... I gave this link to amp and I think he found it useful. I know I did, it was a starting point for a fairly long journey in our search for a bluewater boat, note you will find very few modern production boats on the list, but if you read the whole thing you'll begin to understand why.

LOL well there's plenty of room down here for you, I'm getting more and more tempted to drop anchor in Havana harbor though so you might get yourself in trouble if you follow me around too much I'm not sure if I just don't like to be told where I can't go

I'll take some photos of the new paint job and put them on svroshambo soon. I also ripped out all the wooden grab bars and replaced them with stainless.

I thought a "grab bar" was a seedy tavern where gentlemen went to grab some T & A.
