yea i liked my macbook so much i bought an iphone, then a macbook pro and recently an iphone for my girlfriend. my next purchase is probably an imac or mac mini..but that wont be until i have my own house.

We have a digital camcorder now, but I haven't done **** with it because I can't get it to work with my computer without buying some movie editing software that costs hundreds of dollars. I'd like to be able to edit together my own home movies.

I feel NOW apples are fine.. there are still a few things that pcs have available and despite all the rants and raves about how you can run anything a pc can run, its not completely true.. BUT for the most part those might be specialized programs that are used by businesses and such.. For the average computer user MACs are great. Photoshop and such programs are known to work better in that environment.. I will always keep a pc in my stable so i can load linux and weendoze!! I have been considering gettin Patty a Mac since its so simple and they are the hip thing to have.. Y ou can build a much more powerful computer for the money you spend on a mac, but as Phins stated you might have to fiddle around to get all the microsoft/hardware/software to work in harmony.
I personally have only ever had one bad virus issue. After that I have done quite alright.. Until recently I only had Linux on this notebook i'm on, but i reinstalled windows so that i could use certain programs. There is also a build of linux out there floating around that emulates leopard but i dont know how that is working out since i stopped following it. I dislike how Mac controls everything you can put on it.. even on the iphone.. they have loosened up a little. That particular issue is also what keeps them running smoother with less problems.. Its a certain way of quality control, unlike windows which has soo many problems due usually to the fact that not all programs were designed to correctly run on it.. even the OS causes problems.. But it can be tweaked.. I also have more time than money so i can fiddle around with the pcs. I like the new macs that are basically just a monitor, and if i were to buy a pc say for the living room that would be the one i'd get. But for a gaming rig .. PC hands down.

we have discussed this before, my current PC is like 6 or 7 years old, and its never been rebooted and I have never had to open the case on it. My shop computers are even older, and they work fine as well and have never been rebooted.
IM talking desktops, for a laptop a $69 battery would not influence me to spend $1000+ to get longer life, I think if people got a back up battery and did not use the same battery over and over draining it who knows how long they would last?
If I had gotten my wife a spare battery with external charger her HP laptop would be going strong, but the stupid AC plug came loose from having the computer plugged in all the time, part of that is my lazyness for not replacing the battery when it would not hold a charge.

You've never rebooted them? How the hell do you install the massive Microsoft updates without rebooting?
Frank, considering you can boot into a full windows install with bootcamp, I fail to see what you could run on a PC you can't run a mac????
How many of you guys saying Macs aren't worth the extra money owned one? (just out of curiosity) I'm making my statements on the basis of having EXTENSIVE experience on both, I used to support PC's for the entire company. I find it hard to accept that if you have not had extensive experience with BOTH you could make a educated suggestion as to which is better, you are basing your opinion on one thing price.
Look at it this Patrick, if you buy a PC and you hate you can sell it for 25% of you paid for it on ebay, if you buy a Mac and decide you don't like it you can sell it on ebay 95% of what you paid for it.... don't believe me look at what macs sell for on ebay and look at what pc's sell for. I've dv9000 i paid 1100 and it's only a year old (battery and charger already been replaced) and I can't get 400 for it.

if you really use a computer at its full potential- then yes a mac will blow away a PC, but for net browsing and everyday BS I just feel there are better things I can spend my money on.
when I say reboot- I mean wipe the drive clean and reload windows, I cant remember the last time I had to do a CTRL-ALT-DELETE, I find XP even more stable then 98.
