what kind of welder do you want? Arc, MIG, ot TIG?

I would suggest a MIG. the price range on them is decent and they can do just about any type of welding job you have in mind.

As far as brands, I've always used Lincoln, real fine craftsmenship.

well i dont know what type of wleder i need and the differences between them. I work with aluminum alot and some steel for exhuast and stuff. Will a mig welder work on that?

Midnightdriver 12-23-2003 05:44 PM

Yes a mig or tig will work. but they arn't cheap. well at least I don't think they are. summit sells both.

Mig isnt so good for welding alum...

If your going mostly aluminum you want a TIG welder. they cost though, your next best bet is MIG. they cost less and can do almost just as much. in fact they are faster than tigs, but can't do quite as much.

First Question: What power supply do you have available.

2nd Question: What are you welding

3rd Question: What types of welding are you proficienty in?

4th: Do you have an Oxy/Acytylene rig ?

just to let ya know welding ain't a walk in the park, it took me a good month of mig welding pipes and other mild steel things to get a good bead and penetration.

Seppuku 12-23-2003 06:23 PM

1.) Just a normal plug

2.) Thin guage aluminum and piping for exhuast

3.)none

4.)no
