LOL, welcome to the board, bigtime isn't always helpful... he's not on the welcome commitee!

As far as reliability, I have had 3 RX-7's on 2nd gen 2 first gens. All with over 150,000 miles, the first 1st gen I had has over 180K and is still running strong. I can only speak from experience, I am sure the the 3rd gen owners can give you some feedback there!

Lol, thats bigtime...he's like that, jk. Seriously though, the 240 and the Rx are similar in there designs, but the rx7 is a better car. The rx7 has superior handling, acceleration, braking, and the lot. HOWEVER, Nissan is one of my other favorite car manufacturers and I know they make a reliable car. The 240s are strong in reliability, but you won't be able to make them out perform an Rx7 with the same mods. Mod for mod, the rx7 will always beat out a 240. The NA rx7s last well into their 200K+ mileage if well taken care of...I even saw a Turbo rx7 w/ 220K original motor miles, lol. I won't lie though, the cars are maintenance...you need to do regular oil changes and keep them up...depending on the condition of your friends motor...it'll last a year, or a week...it all depends on what the mileage is and how the car was treated during those miles. You'll also have a closer knit community owning an rx ...all in all, they are pretty close in pros and cons, but the rx7 is just as reliable as any other car provided you do simple maintenance. Of course, you can always drop the SR20DET into your 240 and be done w/ it

Honestly, if its gonna cost you just as much to get the rx7 as it would be to fix your 240...just fix the 240. The rx7 fenders will need to be picked up at a junkyard(we have some NY members...maybe they'll popin and give ya some good places to get them). It shouldn't cost that much to get some fenders...check www.thepartstrader.com and see if anybody has a parts car or something, that'll be your cheapest and quickest bet.

Go to your local bodyshop and ask them to get you AFTERMARKET fenders and a hood, all 3 are shop cost under $400, so hopefully you know someone who owns/works in a bodyshop. You could try to get them in a junk yard, but you will still have to paint and put them on, so why not just get new aftermarket ones and have them painted. My cousin had a 240SX, it was a great car. If your car is good except the engine, and youre "not made of money", maybe shell out the extra dollars and go for a rebuild with a warranty and everything rather then get involved with another car that you dont know about and start some new problems with that.
