I am a little pissed right now about a famous rotary performance shop screwing me over with my car. My car has been there for 14 months and I keep hearing lame excuses. The owner stated to me it will take two weeks to fix my car. What is the hold up???? I don't want to put names. But if you are reading this forum, finish fixing my !@#$-ing car.

I can't understand WTF can keep a person to finish a paying customer's vehicle. Lie to him and blatantly blowing me off, "I am busy, two more weeks, I am having problems fixing the previous car, etc."

Shop owner: How can you live with yourself?

My car never sat outside but yet, it is outside getting all the elements.... My freakin $4000 paint job is getting torn up because somebody doesn't give a hoot about fixing my car.

This kind of crap makes me want to give up the rotary thing. I don't think the honda, nissan, or toyota crowd gets screwed over like me.

Guys and gals, what do you think about that?????? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

Dysfnctnl85 03-10-2005 06:56 AM

I think there's too much of this going on.

This kind of crap is just making it more obvious that the rotary community is becoming a diy community only, the exception being like 1 or 2 reputable shops...

dvls-7 03-10-2005 07:03 AM

Sorry to hear that bro....theres various ways of doing this.....obvious scenario is go and take your back and seek out another shop to finish the work.

Another is to hound the shop....constantly call and keep popping up every now and then. Draw back to this one is you might not get the proper work done that you expect and pay for.

You could also post the name of the shop....maybe some negative feedback might actually do some good....with a potential loss of business (current and future) might wake his ass up and start getting back to what made his shop popular.

Or just sit and wait a little longer to see if it gets completed and hope the work was worth the wait.

Hope everything works out....good luck.

FikseRxSeven 03-10-2005 07:03 AM

hmmmm you're from virginia... so a certain shop comes to mind...

why dont you give them another law suit

I wish I can just pop up over there, however, I have some friendly eyes passing by and looking.

I want to see if the shop owner sees this message and wake up.

Another lawsuit??? What is the deal on this??????? PM me for details.

I have called numerous times, I am fed up, just like he is probably. But the fact is, my car is still there, wasting away.

I didn't want to do this writeup but I feel this is one of my first steps to do. I have never screwed anybody over, never will. But there are some people who don't give a damn.

I have a lot of respect for this shop, but I think by the way of his conduct he doesn't respect me or probably others.

His manners of conducting business is wrong, unethical and it really hurts people that are trying to enjoy the rotary thing and have put life and soul into RX-7s.

I have put tons of money in my car for it to be sitting far away from me because of his actions.

Parts are paid for, 90% of labor is paid for. Was I the dumb ass that screwed up to pay 90% money up front to a well known reputable shop???????

got receipts, witnesses, and a crap load of people who know who I am, a lot of people who know the car, where it is from, where it is at, etc.

phinsup 03-10-2005 10:01 AM

I gots some peeps in VA you want me to send them out with baseball bats...

Seriously though, that is bullshit, especially with a paying customer, I know there are a number of shops out there that don't like to do work unless you are doing an ungodly amount of performace "gravy work".

Meh, wut the hell do i know, let us know how it goes!

1revnrex 03-10-2005 10:03 AM

what takes 14 months to fix?

spaceman Spiff 03-10-2005 10:28 AM

take his ass to small claims court or something.

94touring 03-10-2005 10:51 AM

Name the shop. Since you already paid up front, something that isn't a good idea but oh well, you might as well either chalk up a loss or take him to court.

Edna 03-10-2005 10:56 AM

I think that it is time that some of you guys opend your own rotary shop.....yes....no?

I think u re dumb for leaving it there for that long. You dunno if they stealing ure parts. And to be messing up ure paint job, i woulda been got my car outta there

cymfc3s 03-10-2005 11:44 AM

Honestly, I think this is the 3rd or 4th post Ive responded to chewing people out who pre-pay for a bunch of work. WHY???? Are you that gullible? If you HADNT paid them anything, you could just take your car and go. And if you HADNT paid them anything they would have a bigger incentive to work on it (they want your money!) But since they already have your money, the incentive is gone.

PLEASE PLEASE people!!! DO NOT PREPAY A DIME FOR WORK ON YOUR VEHICLES! If the shop is in such dire straits that they need cash to even get started fixing your car, you need to seriously ask yourself if this is who you want working on your car....

I sound like broken record!

I guess I am the dumb ass for leaving it there so long. I was referred to him by many people and have seen his work on other cars. I just can't believe it is happening to me and only me.

I guess I was trying to believe the BS excuses for why is it taking so long.

My car is not exactly local to me and takes roughly between gas and tolls about $300 round trip. Now it looks like I will have to spend another $300 just to pickup and incomplete car.

It better be in the same shape it was or else.

I learned that the hard way. If I was to name him right now, I guarantee all of you would be surprised on who it is.

boxrs4sale 03-10-2005 11:55 AM

I think that you should name it so that we all know who not to take our cars too.

Maybe that is just me though.

nismo convert 03-10-2005 11:56 AM

Have you seen posts on other forums like this? Even if they are left up, it's a bunch of people attacking the guy for being an idiot or dragging a good shops name through the mud.

Seeing as it's in gen d, it's fine, but the post calling him an idiot was a bit much, he obvioulsy knows he fucked up, you can get that accross a little nicer like seth did....

turbovr6 03-10-2005 12:13 PM

wow, that sucks. I know who the shop is too. I'm sure he will take care of it for you.

noman17 03-10-2005 12:14 PM

I haven't mentioned this before even thought several people know about it because I wanted to give the person a chance, from one gentleman to another. I am not a 19yr old punk either. I felt at the time it was going to be OK. Get my car fixed by one of the best rotary guys known.

Seems that I can't even trust that.

I haven't used other forums yet, because the mechanic frequents this one the most.

All I want is my car fixed.

Today was very hard to even put this up, but I felt an obligation to do it.

I can't give out the name yet. Once the smoke clears, then I will do. My car is still at that shop.

boxrs4sale 03-10-2005 12:35 PM

is the shop in delaware ?

You have a completly legit. reason to post this. Ignore all the BS posts. I hope everything works out for you.

phinsup 03-10-2005 12:40 PM

OK, screw ups aside, let's look at the situation and see if there's any way to reach a resolution.

Facts are facts, you paid him, it's a long distance and yer car has been sitting a long time. Lawyer's are never pretty and rairly do anyone any favors.

Not knowing the shop, I would ask is there any possibility you could get your money back and go somewhere else? If no, then I guess you need to decide if you want to wait it out and constantly check up on it, try to get some progress going, take your car elsewhere and deal with trying to get your money back later or hire a lawyer, spend near as much as you paid in lawyer fees and maybe get your money back (hopefully break even) and take the car elsewhere.

I'd opt for trying to get your money back or nailing down a date the car will be finished and doing everything to hold them to that date.

Let's see how it goes. Supposedly the car is halfway done, but I can't verify it. I will call him and see. Done or not done I will be picking it up. I just want him to see that the internet is a beautiful thing and the rotary community is small. Don't screw over people because it will bite you in the arse!!!!

Thanks for the support out there. Sometimes you have to vent. I certainly did. I am too close to retiring from the Army and this shouldn't be an issue right now if he would done it like he stated he would do.

To the mechanic fixing my car!!!!!!!!!

Don't ruin your rep. Do what you are supposed to do and make me happy!

Not in Delaware. If there is another shop doing something or screwing somebody else, maybe it needs to be posted.

the items we agreed upon doesn't take 14months. You can build a car from the ground up in less than that.

ambassador_josh 03-10-2005 10:20 PM

I was screwed over by a similar shop, but an import specific one, not specifically a rotary shop. Kept my FC 10 months, paid upfront, and sold me nonexistant motor from "japan." They think that I am not going to do anything about it, but I'm just waiting long enough to make sure I wouldnt be pegged as the primary suspect. I dont forget, and I dont easily forgive.

Battle.

If they say a certain amount, and the work isn't done, yank your car and sue them for the money if they won't refund it. I don't know why people put up with this ****, 14 months. I don't know what to tell you dude besides that we've heard it all before.

Jerry I don't understand why you come here to talk about me and your car. Your car is almost done. I also have a bigger job that has been in my shop before your car.. and I'm currently trying to finish that car to then finish yours. I also told you about that. I also told you your car is 75% done. I am a 1 man team. I'm being pulled 20 different ways every single day. I apologize about taking so long to finish your car but is out of my control.

all I could do is garrante you a solid job when I finally finish your car.

this is the real reason I no longer want to own a business. I just can't deliver in a realistic time frame anymore.

jerry I have been turning work down for the last 6 months and still can't finish backed up work.. jerry just hold out a little more and you will not regret it..
