Check this thing out, I seen it at the Javits Center, its like $60,000-$70,000 or something, has 300hp twin turbo 13b in it, and a full TII drivetrain, its SCCA legal. The website is still under construction, but you can see the pic of it at the bottom, and the specs on the other linkSRX-7specs

Kennedy Engineered makes an adapter to bolt a Rotary to many other transmissions. I would recommend a Mid Engine Configuration with a Porsche 914 5 speed. They are cheap, readily available and will handle 350 HP without any mods. You could create a very well balanced car with a mid engine configuration.

A 3 rotor mid engine would be the ultimate.

Then the only real choice would be what body?

As for my budget:

5k for the engine is about what I figured. Whether I go SBC crate or rotary...

I don't know what the trans will run me for a rotary, but a Porsche 930 tranny will be about 3K, and I expect the clutch to be about 1k (to handle all that HP). I don't know about rotaries but the fuel inj (TPI?) or carbs would run me about 500-1500 as well. That's around 10K and I don't think that it's a beast. On the other hand I know the least about enignes so I probably have something wrong.
you can go to the dealer and buy a brand new rwd tranny for 2k, they sell j spec ones for under 500...

fuel injection is about right, so is the clutch

5k for a motor leaves you a lot of room, a factory rebuild is $2200

how much hp are we shooting for?

What body? My own Ugly or not I want this to be my baby from the start with custom everything. I'm trying to work the design around OEM glass and lights though. It's the first picture that comes up on my page. Naturally it's not done yet. Once I model it in 3d it should be in its final stages.

As for the HP, I would like something in the 400-450HP range. Of course that will depend on the final weight of the car - wt/hp ratio and all. I don't really know how much rotaries weigh, but I know the SBC is about 575-600lbs. They have NO2 for rotaries right? I don't know if I'd like to go that route but I guess it's an option.

Do any of you know what the stock HP is on the 20B? I went to the site posted above but all they have is a picture. It does look nice tho...
