I use to be a frequent flyer at the dentist office. Then one day he suggests I buy a Waterpik.. Best advice I ever got, it cleans everything so damn well, no more gum problems, no more cavities. Haven't needed any dental services in 2 years.

Its not going to straighten teeth however.. But if you have bad or receding gums, it works wonders.

I have great teeth, I've never had a cavity. The receding gums on my lower canines is from them protruding past the rest of the teeth (forward), just the act of eating wore the gums down over the years. Otherwise, my gums are perfectly healthy.

I had gum disease despite my best efforts of cleaning, twice a day brushing, flossing, using special mouthwashes... They kept telling me to floss more, and rinse with stronger and stronger stuff, it had no effect..

I don't know why the dentist held out on me about the waterpik, maybe I funded his retirement, I don't know.. It turned my gums around in a week.. Its amazing what comes out of your gum pockets even after flossing and brushing..

The most amazing thing about it though, is how it changes your breath. Its amazing now, how bad everyone elses breath stinks so bad now, that my own doesn't, Even people I know with perfect teeth have stinky breath I can smell now..

Everyone should own one.

Wow! I wonder if some people have more gum "space" than others.

Could be . My gums have receded, but the silly thing is when I was 22 or so they were cutting my gums back. They kept telling me they were to long and that's why they would get irritated.

Got the braces off this morning, it' nice. Getting a tooth implant Monday. Until I get the crown put on the implant, a fake tooth will be glued to my retainer. Until I get my retainer (tomorrow morning), the fake tooth is glued to the 2 teeth next to it, haha. They gave me a goodie bag filled with gum and blow pops (I haven't had gum in 2.5 years).

Those bastards! They're trying to drum up business by promoting tooth decay!

I got my implant put in on Monday. It's just the "post", a crown will be attached to it 2 months from now. I didn't really know ahead of time what all it entailed, I had a migraine going in so I was just eager for them to knock my *** out. Apparently it involved slicing up my gums quite a bit to get to the bone, I've got at least 4 stitches in my gums. It doesn't hurt that bad, and the pain pills worked great the first 2 days (just taking ibuprofen now).

My retainer (the "invisalign" type) is protecting that area and keeping the swelling down with pressure, so I haven't taken it off yet and gotten a good look at the implant, they said keep it on for 48 hours, which will be later today.

Didn't have time to thoroughly read your post. I just skimmed it. I see you've gotten implants and had some work done on your ***. Congratulations on the new you!
