It's ok, I'll have a new beard by tomorrow (would be sooner, but I shaved this morning...regular guys are insane, shaving the whole thing freaking sucks).

I have to say though, eating noodles and kissing (but not at the same time....well, I haven't tried that yet, so maybe) are two activities that are greatly improved with the removal of facial hair.

Had the surgery Wednesday. **** sucks. First night was a living hell, apparently 6 hours under anesthesia makes me an angry, angry person. Getting discharged today.

Did they "diagnose" this problem after they saw you had decent insurance?

I will say, if insurance didn't cover the jaw surgery, I would not have even gotten braces in the first place. There were some carefully-worded letters written to my insurance company.

Doing better, lower lip and chin are completely numb, and will be that way for several weeks. That, coupled with a splint that ties together my maxilla (top half of your jaw), makes me talk like I have a major speech impediment, and I tend to drool on occasion.

99% of feeling is back, no noticeable numbness. Talked to a orthodontist assistant whose husband had similar surgery a couple weeks before me, his chin is pretty much permanently numb. I'm glad I don't have that.

I still have braces. Orthodontist has been having trouble making room for an implant for my missing tooth (an incisor on top, apparently it's a pretty common missing tooth). Using an awesome 3D x-ray scan, they found out the root of one of my teeth (next to where the implant would go) is hitting a screw in my face, so they couldn't make more room for the implant. So they're going to have to move the other tooth (the other side of where the implant would go) in such a way that would create a gap between my front teeth. So I'm going to have to get a veneer on one tooth to close the gap.

Looks like I'll be in braces for probably another 6 weeks, at least. I've been in braces for 25 months so far.

So I'll need an implant with crown, a veneer, and a couple gum grafts where my gums have receded. Not sure where I'm gonna get the money for this, especially with property taxes due. Oh well, it comes and it goes, the trick is getting it all to line up. Yay debt!
