Update! I've had braces since January, it's amazing how much my teeth have moved in such a relatively short period of time. One of my teeth up top have always been missing (baby tooth fell out, there wasn't another one to grow in) and the 2 adjacent teeth closed the gap over the years. They opened that gap by putting a spring between the two teeth, I'll be getting a fake tooth next week (not implanted, just attached to the braces to hold the gap).

I'm getting jaw surgery November 25th, day before Thanksgiving (also our son's 1st b-day, 2 years in a row spent Thanksgiving in a hospital ftl). They will lengthen my lower jaw and most likely widen my upper jaw, gruesome stuff. But I'll have an aligned bite, no more jaw pain/popping/locking, a sweet jaw line, a defined chin (currently I have neither of these, hence the beard), and supposed better breathing through my nose due to them manipulating my sinuses (weird).

Surgery will be at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, this is the creme de la creme l'hopistale, it's where everyone from Tally goes for major medical problems and such (not that we don't have competent medical professionals here), top notch stuff. In the few times I've gone there for consultations, I've felt very comfortable with the way they treat me, spend lots of time with me asking every question I could bring up, working with my schedule, etc.

you can also feel neat things like where one of the screws backed out (ive got a screw loose!) and where they sliced

but basically my lower teeth push on my upper teeth.

so unless you really really need it, i would just stay away from surgery, its like taking your car to the dealership, its never right after
I didn't notice this post the first time around, wow that sucks! Supposedly they perform a virtual surgery beforehand and see where everything will be afterward. They took impressions of all my teeth, and measurements of my face, and they'll be taking more detailed measurements on my next consult. I'll add your problems to my list of questions to ask about, and see if they have some medical equivalent of red loctite. My jaw has never been correct to begin with, I'm told if I didn't take the steps to have it fixed, I'd have more and more locking/popping problems in the future (and not the cool poppin' and lockin' dance moves).

Right now though I'm waaaay past the point of no return, already dropped the $7k+ on my mouth hardware and all the teeth are nearly in place. Can't quit now!

Best of luck to you. I couldnt imagine the scope of what youre having one, after me just having braces for a few years. My teeth are straight now, and my jaw is all fucked up. It pops all time time, and every once in a while I stil get pain from it not being aligned correctly. My teeth look better now, but Ive got more jaw related problems than I ever had before braces.

i was only like 17-18 when they did it, and i didn't have any other problems, no popping pinging or knocking, so you may be a better candidate.

I insist that you immediately send your beard club membership card back in and you remove your avatar. And remember, even though you are no longer in the beard club, you are still obligated to keep the beard clubs secrets or we will be forced to do something you won't like.
