the problems we saw where due to lack of maintnace and ignorant owners, so other then that yes the allison trannies where good. i do know that when doing a cummins-allison conversion in dodges there have been more then a few clutch issues. but like i said the trannies have been good just stupid owners. the duramax on the other hand are problematic with the injectors leaking fuel into the rockers wich gets into the oil and we saw some turbo issues and alot of power steering hydroic lines blowing. anyways im done ranting

Funny - I'm actually looking at a set of wheels with those mounted. 400 for the set.

Trim? We talkin ***** here?

I have no clue. It has NOTHING. just the way I like it! No power seats, no leather, no bose... it's base like my F-Dizzle was.

I would strike $400 for a mounted set in a heartbeat. I just dropped five hund-o on four iPikes for the Audi. And talk about lacking timing- I rode around on my Y-radials for a week on ice and deep snow; soon as I bought the iPikes, the temp hit 48F. WTF!

Nice move on the Z- That was my first choice when I was in the market, but I was shy because I feared the mod bug may bite again. The 3.0 A4 is significantly less mod-able!

I decided not to buy - cause the dealership owed me new rubbs anyway. Saving for a nice set of cruising wheels...

And yes, the goddamn bug is on strong, but I'm trying hard not to do anything. I'd like to lower it, and wheels. Save the rest for a project FD.

This is a fun-*** little car though, I'll have to admit. Not terribly slow either.

05 and up duramax have better reliability.. the old seems to have a common problem with the head gaskets i believe. allison trannies have a great track record.. cummins are nice too.. but the dodge trucks are crappier in build quality compared to the chevy and ford, it seems.

seems lots of the folks throwin out trannies are probably chippin the engines and modding them.. even slightly will get tons of torque increase on the diesel engines.. which is not fun for the tranny.

yeah man, the transmission is designed to work with a stock setup.

to change a 5 speed allison to a 6 speed, all you have to do is repgrogram it to hold different clutches to get another gear out of it.

but if you have an allison and you upgrade your engine power, they tell you to buy a new transmission. and rightfully so.
