what are your favorite racing styles(i.e. downshifting, power shifting)
i just want to see what types are out there. and even if you dont use it, explain it.
i like the ever faithful downshifting.

I downshift everytime I need to. I think thats kinda required, not really a style, maybe i don't get it yet? I Try to make my shifts as short as necessary, but without breaking loose. Of course right now, i'm only running a FWD car, but it makes a difference, Once i'm in 4th though, I powershift. When people are around watching and i know I'll win anyway, i'll let em rip threw second and 3rd. Thats fun. Other than drag though, i haven't raced too much in other types. Just messing around though, i make it a point to keep my revs matched around corner downshifts for faster exits and all.

OMG! I hate stupid people who don't know what double clutching is. If you don't know what something is, look it up! Mostly ricers who've taken FatF too sseriously.
Double clutching: OBSOLETE AS HELL! It was used on older cars that had no synchro's. You had to press in the clutch to get it out of gear, release, and press it again to get it in gear. Whoever wrote that line in FatF is a ******* tard.
Power Shifting: Depends on the car. It's the way my dad used to shift on his 496 SS but it's bad for the clutch. Useful on high torque cars that can catch traction. If you don't do it fast enough, or miss a gear, you can blow the motor/tranny.
Heal-toe Shifting: Not really for drag racing, but good for circuit/drift racing. So you don't lock up the tires when down shifting through a corner with intentions of keeping as much speed as possible. Too hard to explain here. Just search for drifting techniques or Heal toe shifting on Google and read about it. Takes a LOT of practice to perfect.
I personally just taught myself how to shift normally, as fast as possible when I'm straight line racing. Now a days that's your best bet. Just be careful with Turbo cars. Tranny's don't like it when you slam gears in powerful cars.

A kid I work with said he let a girl drive his Integra the other day. "She really knew what she was doing. She was double clutching and everything!".
Me: "Ummm...double clutching is worthless unless you don't have synchros."
Him: *puzzled look* "Yeah, well...she knew what she was doing."

ok thanx...i guess i had a brain fart there. so if a person pretty much perfected powershifting would it still be bad on the tranny. if so how bad. thats what i thought double clutching was but i didnt see a purpose in it. thanx for explaining
