that FD3s-xxxxx is the vin number in japan. in the us the vin number is like 94touring said. the only rx7 that has a similar vin to a JDM FD is a 1979 USDM rx7..........so i guess you could say its a 1979 rx7 ?

Yeah you could, just as long as they don't do a visual inspection they would never know. Cause my 1970 mini has 4700 kilometers on the tach, fuel injection, leather interior, and a couple other 99 spec parts. The only difference is that mini's all looked the same from 59-2000, only thing that changed was engines and interior.

Yeah there is a tag on the dash if i remember correctly, too cold to go outside and look. Its only been in front of my face for the past 3 years

Yeah they wouldn't care, hell i paid about 19k for a 1970 mini that was sold for about $2500 back in the day.

The only problem you run into with the cost is trying to get it financed or something, the bank will want an appraisel. The insurance company also would want to see the car in person or have pics to insure it for the value you paid.

hmmm. so this could be done. good thing J9FD3S is a smart guy. well you could get classic insurance on it ..... i think most of these cars would be used for racing as they are RHD. this is some great info here!

I can just see it now, two years from now the 79 would be 25 years old and there would be thousands of FD's imported under the classic car law. Call me a visionary.





I'm not sure the emisions figures would do any good, not at this point anyways.

i don't think they do emissions inspection as soon as you bring it in. that's your responsibility after its registered and titled and insured
