ok so living in the uk i pay £0.99.5 per liter of unleaded fuel and they way out government tax it i am paying £0.69 tax you guys dont get taxed anything like this. Watching the john stuart show im seeing alot of arguments about free healthcare which we have the question is would you pay the extra tax if you were getting a high standard for free healthcare? we complain about the tax but its human nature to complain i just want to know if you guys would take the hit. Probably not a good idea to ask a bunch of rotary buffs if they would take a free heart transplant over a month of 9000rpm

 

well yeah as an american, when ive been to europe i'm always impressed at how nice things like public transportation, roads etc etc are. you can SEE where the tax dollars go, and it works.



i wont speak for everyone, but in CA we do not have ANY of that. our roads are horrible (you can close your eyes and still tell when you cross the CA border), what little public transportation we have exists largely as a subsidy to keep some high rollers in their limos. etc etc



in CA you are hard pressed to see your tax dollars at work, when in fact they have taken 40% of your income and are still short like 26 billion dollars.



we get taxed like $0.60 a gallon here, it was SUPPOSED to be to fix the roads, but 25 years later we're basically still waiting

 

I dont know what £0.99.5 comes out to so can you dumb that up for us americans so I can join in?
