after a powdercoat does the object change color ?

drifter 07-02-2003 03:15 AM

yes, thats generally the point of it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Instead of wet painting it, its sprayed with a powdery paint, then baked dry. Makes it heaps more resistant to everything.

so if you had some polished aluminum rims and you powder coated it what would they look like? non metallic but shiny?

AES powder coating did my wing and they get brand new colors all the time to keep up with car colors.

the wheels would match your paint with np

i think they charge around 75 a wheel if they are sandblasted and rdy to go.

powder coating is alot better then painting (in the long run)

Wife and I had rally wheels on her '78 L-82 Vette powdercoated by a local company. Nice job. Fifty bucks a wheel. They had a pretty good selection of colors.

I do my own powder coating

I am only set up right now small parts. I need a walk-In oven. I am backlogged on projects right now so it will be ~ a month before I can accept any work :(

Yes...they have a new way of coating now that makes your paint look like anodizing. The metal has to be first polished to a shine then a special see powder coating paint is applied. There are several colours to choose from and it gives it that chrome colourd look.

Agreed totally.....if you want it done properly powder coat them. This is what all my fellow bike racers do to their rims and frames. Its very durable and easy to clean.
