its definitely a 90 degree shelf bracket. and since theres a sticker under the license plate im guessing he used to have the license plate over on the bracket with nothing in between the tail lights.

hes calmed down a little bit. he hasnt seen the trunk yet, and i HOPE i can get the exhuast fixed before he hears it run.

He should be overjoyed. Surely the acquisition of such a beautiful classic is reason for celebration, with the possible exception being the car's dubious past history in "bracket" racing.
