Yeah... I argues that they ARE overrated. They are NOW. Back when they were new, they had every right to brag.. nowdays people buy this 10 year old car and automatically think they are on top of the world! I LOVE the rx7 like no other... But it's a 10 year old car and for the most part... Needs a little "help" staying on top. I got bashed though... Oh well. LOL

 

I think a properly maintained stock third gen is a good value for an exotic car. Bang for buck is pretty good. But sure, a 14 second car is not "king" . . stock late model F bodies can beat that. I mean, F bodies . . they're not king.



Buying someone's LS1-FC for $5000 has to be the biggest bang for buck I have ever seen, but that's would be cheating now wouldn't it?

Yes but they cost as such...so that lowers the "Overrated" part you know?



If we were paying $25k for a rebuilt Rx7 instead of $12-15k because they are such a great car then I could say it's "Overrated" (ahem, Supra, ahem).



But, alas, they are generally "Cheap" compared to their competitors yet its much lighter, more balanced, and flat out more geared toward true performance than its competitors. Who cares if the others can beat it on a 90MPH+ race or crap...everything's boostable.



I think, given the price tag, many kids can afford the car, but not the know-how to keep it running right....hence the horror stories. Some of it is inevitable...but I should be so lucky...to outright pay $13k for a supercar...
