::begs for my fuel to be thrown on this fire of religious debate::

Mere Christianity was great. I only hope that someday I will be able to understand a MERE percentage of the Bible.

Wow, some "Passion Movie" thread we have going here... The one on SF is more mature and inviting.

I know this is GenD, and the usual joke is always invited, and can even be ignored here, but to those that joke around about the subject...you have never thought about life?

And when I mean life, I mean life, not just afterlife.

The "Live for the now! Drink beer! Get laid! Buy a turbo!" is such an old played out mindset I'm ashamed to say I once held the "rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints" attitude. It never lasted long or got far, but I can say now I pretty much spoke about something I had NO CLUE about.

But back to the movie:

Sure, it's emotional. But that's the problem. Emotions only last so long. You go home from the movie speechless, but by the next morning it was just a movie. Same with 9/11. We had flags held high everywhere, friends asking me what life is all about and even about God...but it lasted maybe a week...maybe.

My Conlusion:

God is real. I can feel His presence, AND the lack of it at times. He's proven Himself in my life, and historians have proven his events as well (though it doesn't matter to me to some extent). Some of you need to re-think what life is about, and definitely get over the very outdated excuses such as that those who are "religious" (which I am not...) are just sad this whole life looking to the next.

There ain't no high like the upmost High. Everything else leaves you with a "hangover" in this life, as much as you read of other's mistakes...sometimes it takes a lifetime of chasing empty things like money or fame to find this out. I'm just opting to tell you that if you dump those intentions and goals sooner, that you can avoid its spoils.

And that's my .02.

exactly, they all got killed, proof that they have many weak spots, which also proves the bible is real.

Yeah, making a movie about Jesus in America is really risky.

AMEN!

you are wise beyond your years.

i am still growing in my faith, and working to nurture it reading the bible, "purpose driven life", and various apologetics books (mere christianity, case for christ, case for faith, etc).

the problem is: people have questions and doubts, but they are too afraid to find the answere or even acknowledge teh problem. , they just run from teh questions.

there are more christians on this forum than i expected.

what's the last successful judeo-christian movie you've seen? the ten comandments? what's it been since that movie, more than 20 years?

if christian movies were a sure success, then everyone would be doing it.

this movie was a risk, especially considering every critic was doubting mel would break even and no major film company would support mel gibson and this movie.
