The medical benefits are free. I can't really afford to live on $8.50 for 20 hours either, which is why I have 2 jobs. My other job pays less, but I love it too much to leave it. I can join the union (Teamsters) whenever I want, but since I already have the medical benefits, I don't see much of a reason to join.

I was going to be a driver until I learned you have to be 25. That sucked.

Unions are a good thing, plus if you stay with them you get pensions and what not out of them, they fight for your raises, time off, working conditions, etc... im a New Yorker, how could I NOT like unions, lol.

If I stay more than a year I'll probably join. To be a driver, I think you need to work there for at least 4 years. Some of the drivers around here make $80K!

My trainer says I'm "kicking ***" and I've only been loading for 4 days. I average 285 packages/hour, and most newbies average 220. My load quality average is a 9.0...second highest in my crew. I guess that'll all go away after I've been there a while....lol.
