A typhoon and a Hurricane are the same thing, just the ways they are catagorized are different, the one coming close to the island currently would be a Cat 5 Hurricane, of which we have had 2 in the 4 years I have been here (Maemi and Bart) As mentioned before the island is pretty much built for it. most that come through here are Cat 3 or 4, the island is located within a frontal boundry (as Fergy calls it) that just seems to be a direct line for a Typhoon to travel, the boundry acts like a gaurdrail on the windy road to Okinawa and just pushes the damn things right into us.

 

It keeps moving to the west.. Whoooo hoooo! Hasn't even gotten windy yet.. just little gusts every now and then..
