didn't get the disk brakes because regular brakes on the bike stop well enough.. i can lock the wheels up on disc brakes or regular ones on a bike.. i don't see how one could be that superior to the other.. i mean, if bikes have anti-lock brakes it would be different...

plus i ride really hard, and i can see laying the bike down and having to pay for a rotor every time i bend one.

The rotors are protected by the frame for the most part. I have a tendancy to find mud on my rides, and hitting it in the rain isn't that uncommon. For me, hauling *** down a wet road and being able to make a short stop is important. I don't do the downhill or rocky trail stuff, but mostly agressive urban, so being able to stop FAST in all conditions is of great concern. Also, I don't know if you've ever bent a rim while riding, but a v-brake can make it difficult to impossible to ride home. With the disc, there's no interference.
