that thing has disk brakes?
we want bikes, as usuall I over analyze things and cant make up my mind.
I figure if I buy a pair of good bikes and dont ride them I wasted alot of money but they will have better resale value and last longer anyways.
Or if I buy a cheap bike and then if we ride alot step up to better bikes then I wasted the money on the cheap bikes.
This is how I live my life, lol
BTW- my favorite bikes were my old cannondale and Bianchi, back before mountain bikes were all the rage, guess no one rides road bikes anymore?

Yep bike have come a long way Rob. High end bikes now have hydraulic disk brakes. Like I said to Steve(and he actually took my advise, LOL) Giant makes good entry level bikes. They are good quality, the prices are reasonable, and they can take a good beating.
If you want a bike that can go anywhere, or survive a fall off a cliff, then you need one of theese:
2005 Dakar 2.0 Hydraulic brakes, 5" suspention travel, etc. Thats my next bike, once my friend comes up with the money to buy my current ride.

what happened to good old cables?

cables are good if you are just riding the street. If you want to go down a 90 degree slope, riddled with rocks, mud, whatever. Hydro. brakes give you excellent stoping power, and control over your bike.

Here's a good non-crappy picture. This bike is sweet, all I want to do is ride it, no matter how hungover I am! I was in NO shape to go out yesterday, but I was still all excited about it. I didn't end up riding and it kinda pissed me off! Too much alcohol and no sleep make it dangerous to fight traffic though.

My dad went out two years ago and bought a full CF road bike, with CF wheels, the whole nine. Spent about $4,000 on the setup, road it for a few weeks, now it collects dust in the garage. WTF is with that? I'm gonna gank it!
