Oooohh. Lucky Me! I just got my Laptop 3 days ago. It is Focking Awesome. Here are the specs...
Dell 5150
15.1 inch screen(1600x1200)
P4 3.06 Ghz with 533mhz. FSB
512Mb DDR Ram
64Mb Dedicated ATI Graphics Card
40Gig HD
DVD-Rw/CD-RW/DVD player
It has alot of cool things. I paid $1800 for it.
You can easily get it for 1500 without the DVD burner...
The screen is better then any other laptop I have ever used. I highly recommend this thing!!

who is paying? if he is paying i'd get apple... super bling.
if i was paying i'd get a toshiba notebook. Dell is blah... the keyboards on them suck... i've used two of them from my company and the keyboards never work right and the screens aren't that great either.

Even if it's your money though, i'd consider a G3 laptop, and if they've came out with the G4s (haven't been up-to-date lately with the laptops....) I'd get it.
I'd also recommand the toshiba Satellite. Good cpu. I'm using one right now as a matter of fact. Out of the three I've used from various folks - I haven't had much of a problem yet....
Then again, I rarely like Windows, so that should tell you something ( Meaning, it's been a gerat proccessor caring a winblows OS.... and has done wonders with me using it).

I say.. if you do get a dell.. don't get the latitude......... that's where your keyboard goes to **** and hits the fan.

Also if you get a laptop Look at the screen resolution and most of all battery life. I was looking at a Vaio because it had a nice screen and everything mine has for the same price. Only difference is that the battery life was barely 2 hours!! Mine gets 4!! Never thought I would say this but get the Dell!!
And the Screen is a UXGA.....Better clarity then the basic SXGA
