My father knew a guy with a rotary powered car in the 70's, and my grandfather probably doesn't even know what a rotary is.

Possibly. I usually weigh more than both of my parents combined when they were my age. A few years ago I weighed close to both of them combined when they were around 50. :P

My father's first job after mechanic school or vocational was at the local mazda dealer. He happen to be trained by mazda engineers from japan when they were introducing the rx3 or rx4 engines.
