Having your own speed shop would be very cool. Unfortunately I could never pull something like that off, at least in Iowa. It would constantly be pimple faced high school kids coming in looking for fart cans for the civics and neons and I wouldn't really make much of a living off them.
Maybe a performance/tractor repair shop.

You would be amazed at how much those little ***** spend on their civics. If I open a speed shop I will suddenly love civics. Fart pipes and touring wings for everyone!!!

If it was a car shop only....yeah, I would agree. But that is where we are going to rely on the Sushi Bar some...so we can uphold a reputation of building nice, fast, fun cars....instead of selling crap to dumb kids who know no better. STL already has plenty of dumb **** shops for those type of people. I really would like to get into custom fab ****...but for now, we will be focusing more on building fun street cars....and really concentrate alot of attention into tuning suspensions. I love drag racing...but not as much as road racing/auto-x. I would love to try and build a drift car for the "shop car" just do do something different than all the other shops in the area.

We are opening up a Sushi Bar with a garage.....not quite a full blown shop, but more of a backdoor shop, no showroom or any of that, just working on cars.....turbo installs, fuel systems, motor swaps, etc....not a fix it shop, but an upgrade shop. We will be focusing mostly on handling/racing and building fun street cars as opposed to every dime a dozen drag car shop with the fastest import/domestic in the area.

The Sushi Bar will be the main focus of the shop....but it will be kind of mafia...like those stereotypical Italian resteraunts owned by the mob. But we feel it will create a great atmosphere and will be something a bit different than your everyday places....and our hours of operation will also be much different. No 9-5 type shop....more of a 3pm-12am type of hours in a downtown district.

Yeah....the TII is clean, I was glad it was, I have wanted a Black S5 TII for a while and I found this car. One owner local car...did not have to travel to get it. I was pretty stoked and the price kicked *** I thought.
BADASS dude. Might be a reason to stay in the area afterall...

The worst thing about this whole deal is the ******* wait to open the shop up. After thinking about it for so long and planning it for a while...I am getting anxious and I still have to work a regular job for the next year or so and it sucks! I used to run a shop with my father for the past 3 years and now I am back in the real world of work and I want to run a shop again.....this is lame.

But I think if we stick to it, don't compromise anything, and really focus alot on building it the way we want it that it will do really well. I know alot of the shop owners in STL and some are ok...but in general, they are all the same. Next Level (gone now), Adrenaline, Lightspeed, RH Performance, all the same....Ron at Axis Performance is a cool guy with a nice shop...I plan on having him do alot of our dyno tuning for our customers until we can afford a dyno of our own. I have not been to Hidden Performance yet nor do I know the owner...but I have heard ok stuff about him.

The Sushi Bar will create a very nice atmosphere for people, we will have alot of focus on making it authentic and inviting. My friend is one of the best Sushi Chefs in Missouri and should definately take care of that aspect of the Sushi Bar, good food. But we will have private areas, bar seating, lounge areas, etc....that part should do really well in a short period of time. The automotive part will take longer to really get established and known...but our cars will be on the streets alot and we will bring alot to the table I feel as far as building cars go. I want to work on Rotaries alot....but then again...I don't want to learn on people's cars since I have never ported my own motor. I paid to have mine done by a proffessional...I don't want to build motors like Eric does...going through 9 motors in less than 2 years. That is not a comforting thought for a "rotary shop" in my mind. I need to hire ITO to come out here....I hear alot of good **** about his motors. or IGY.....guys, want to work for free?

Why dont you just sub out the motor work. You pull the engine and strip it to the short bloch then ship it out to be rebuilt.

We more than likely will...I know some good machine shops in STL that will be doing most of our Piston builds....as far as bore, stroke, mic'ng the crank, balance, blueprinting, etc....we will focus on the pulls and the bolt on affair like Turbo kits, intercoolers, fuel systems, exhaust, suspension, etc...but as far as rotaries go, I am going to be doing most of that in house. I just will not do any for people until I feel satisfied with my own motor as well as some friends motors. I have rebuilt them...just never ported one...so that is where I will have to begin to learn how, as far as techniques and characteristics of each type of port size.
