I lost the little respect I had for Linkin Park when I saw they did that with Jay-z. I can't stand him or his **** called music.

LOL Couldn't agree more!

JayZ= Crap

Linkin Park= Crappidy Crap.

So JayZ+ Linkin Park= Crappidy Crap(2)? <--(By 2 i mean squared)

Kind of what I expected, shoulda known. Don't know why I even wasted my time....it's new or different....RUN!!!!! The funny thing is I bet a LOT of you loved the Spawn Soundtrack and it was the same concept with Rock and Techno...god forbid Rock and GASP!!! Rap get together formally instead of all this raprock ****...

Sean

LOL Are you kidding? JayZ and Linkin Park ALONE aren't anything new or different...their lyrics are horrible, and everything sounds the same...just because you combine the two isn't ANYTHING new...which is why everyone was bringin up old combo's like this...NOT to say that they don't like this "New and Different" combo...

I think of all the ppl in the rap game right now, he's about the most honest, his lyrics are awesome, and he ain't talking about killing everyone and drugs, just the bad times he went through and how he made it out of the hood, trust me they blend well, it was a good match..

Sean

I AGREE WITH U. Im big rap fan, but i also listen to a lot of rock, and linking park is one of my favorites , and jay z is a good artiist and even if they are singing bout drugs and money its part of the struggle that u see everyday in urban neighborhoods that u cant knock cuase there saying it. Ive heard plenty of rock songs that make no sense or sound vulgar like NIN **** me like and animal. I think its kewl trying to blend these two distinctive and very popular sections of musik. I like rap and rock so its all good for me..

I know a lot of people don't like LP or JayZ, but I liked it.

I like Jay-Z but I can't stand Lincoln log **** eating park or most of the other "rock" bands that popular radio crams down my throat. Every rock band that comes out now has to have a lead vocalist that is a bonified whiner, even the local rock station has put U2 into rotation! That **** belongs on an easy listening station, if not spiked in the nearest trash receptical and lit on fire.

Funny how people on either side of this argument never gave a reason why linkin park and jay-z, seperate or together are good or bad.

First things first: the mash up. Eh, well i downloaded it not knowing it was an album (thought it was just a collection or songs, ), and after listening to it i am glad i didnt buy it. the problem with it is there is no coherence as far as lyrics are concerned. Like on numb/encore, jay spits his lyrics from encore, about his leaving the game, and them LP does their bit from numb, which is a song about being somebody's trouble being accepted by someone else. WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO DO WITH EACH OTHER? Nuttin. All of the other tracks follow this pattern. Musically, its an interesting concept. It works on dirt off your shoulder/ lying from you, where linkin park changes the arrangement of lying from you to accomodate jay's lyrics from "dirt", but on most of the other tracks fall on their face, with concepts that could be explored more (imo) but were not, and thus failed.

as far as jay-z... he's probably the best rapper of all time. if you can't appreciate hip hop, then you wouldn't understand that.

linkin park, their first album was remarkable, as it spoke to listeners, but the second album was formulaic and too close to the first.

if you want to hear hip hop and rock properly mated, then i would roccomend Mos Def's The New Danger.

OK, to follow Dr1ftK1d's example:

Linkin Park-Liked them since they were Hybrid Theory, the CD named after the original band name (Hybrid Theory) is STILL one of the best CD's I've ever heard, and the only CD I own that I can listen to front to back and not skip a track. That may make me a sheep or whatever, but **** it, the only person's opinion I care about is mine.Plus, 99% of you haven't heard of my favorite band, The Hunger..... Meteora, while not so great, had some decent songs....

Jay-Z- Other than Dre, nobodies beats are better, he makes sense, it's not all about murder and other crap with him, I'm not a HUGE fan of rap (or hip hop for that matter), but for some reason I just like it.....

Now as for the songs not being coherent, that's true, but my god they had a limited amount of songs to work with (well from LP anyway), and since they come from 2 different worlds, I think it makes sense. I'm not saying it was perfect quite the oppisite, but it's like remixes, it's nice to hear familiar lyrics with different music...it's obviously just me, I have a VERY open taste for music the only kind of music I DO NOT like is Jazz, dunno why, but I can not stand it, I even love classical....blah
