Yeah, I recently passed on a set of the 16 x 8's from the '96 GT. I figured they were heavy, and they don't look all that hot, so I'm like, what's the point. I need to see more pics of FC's with the Weld wheels though, 'cause the one pic I did see didn't look so good.

How about these Weds on closeout from tirerack? They look pretty sexy. 16 x 8 too. They look right flimsy though. Anybody ever break a wheel launching at the strip?

compared to hitting potholes, curbs on a racetrack and general g-force sideloading with a R-compound or slick, launching at the strip with a proper drag tire is nothing.

That makes sense. Good to hear it!

Well, the cheapskate in me won out. I just this morning ordered two Hoosier drag radials in 225/50R16. I figure these will hook great, since the old 205/50R15 BFG's did fine. At least I won't be running out of 4th gear at the finish line. O.D. on the Hoosiers is like 24.6 inches--about the same as stock.

I'd love to get a pretty set of wheels for the car someday, but with two kids and thoughts of buying a new house, it's tough to drop over a grand on what amounts to an infrequently-played-with toy.

I've had a set of those exact tires sitting around here for two years without being used. Keep breaking the damn motor first.

You're going to be surprised how soft the sidewalls are compared to the BFG drag radials if you haven't already checked them out.

That soft, eh? Nope. Never laid eyes on one.

So they're going to corner like a set of marshmallows? Not that that's going to matter much. I was just always reasonably impressed with how the BFG's cornered, for a drag radial, I didn't think they drove bad at all.
