Didnt the father die sinning though. I mean, he was envious of his children enough to kill himself attempting to break their record.

Seriously though, hasn't everyone sucked up a mouthful of water before? It's not like you die instantly. I used to see how deep I could go (as a kid, in a pool) and would inhale before I reached the top. I still made it up just fine.
