if it is an rpm, then, as root type rpm -ivh opera........
if it is tarball (i.e. tar.gz) then, type tar zxf opera........tar.gz, then go to the directory that it creates, type ./configure, wait a while, type make, wait quite a long time, then type make install, after it is all done with that, you should have an Opera icon, or just type "opera" in a terminal window inside of X
