hey SUV's didnt exist until 93 with the explorer.
mine is just a 2500 HD Chevy Pickup quad cab with a chair in place of a pickup bed. its on a real frame, with a real suspension. none of this lifted car nonsense. kevin. |

ahem, jeeps beat out Ford a loooooooong time ago 1946: http://summerville-novascotia.com/Je...ationWagon.jpg 1963- what is considered the first "SUV" http://summerville-novascotia.com/Je...neer4drSUV.jpg |
a) you mean willys
b) those are trucks. c) suvs are these **** ball things like ford escapes and crap. Hummer H2's etc. Things that have no business offroad and either have more bling, or more plastic then anything else. kevin. |
in 1946 they called it a Willys/Jeep
the 1963 was called a Jeep, that one a Wagoneer, it had IFS and a automatic transmission therefore giving it a nice ride, the birth of the SUV |
IFS doesn't negate offroading ability. one of my ATV's has IRS and IFS and is an automatic.
THe ability to use the things given to go off-roading is the deciding factor, and the chances of the core group of owners of said vehicle going off-roading in said vehicle. I mean the Benz G500 is probably the BEST off-road vehicle ever...but no one who owns one will ever take it off road. aka an suv is born. kevin. |
oh and BTW those pictures you showed... only the bottom is a truck, the top is an SUV, as designated by its manufacturer.
a wagoneer is definitely a truck, but it did begin going into the SUV direction before it became the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. kevin. |
you dont agree that the Jeep wagoneer was the first SUV???
|

kevin. the term SUV didnt come about until later on, when the term station wagon meant old people car with no style |
Jeep Wagoneer blurs the line, they're mean off-road but also were designed to appeal to the family.
that is rare nowadays. Once it became the Grand Wagoneer, then deformed into the cherokee and grand cherokee it officially became an SUV...altho the cherokee when put in the right persons hand can be made formidable off-road...yet another case of blurry lines. kevin. |
we gonna have a jeep convo? i warn you i know everything about jeep.
kevin. |

Christie Lee
An Innocent Man Released: 1983 Let me tell you a story About a woman and a man Maybe you will find familiar Maybe you won't understand The man's name I don't remember He was always Joe to me But I can't forget the woman She was always Christie Lee He was working in a night club That's where he played the saxophone He used to fake stock arrangements He left the customers alone But one night before the last song About a quarter to three He saw her standing at the coat check And made his move on Christie Lee Christie Lee, Christie Lee Christie Lee, Christie Lee She was a nice piece of music She had a rhythm all her own He blew a solo like a blind man She really dug his saxophone She wanted more than just an encore And he could play in every key He left the stage and packed his alto And took it home with Christie Lee Oh I heard the man knew "the Bird" like the bible You know the man could blow an educated axe He couldn't see that Christie Lee was a woman Who didn't need another lover All she wanted was the sax It took a while for him to notice It took a while for him to see He was never in control here It was always Christie Lee Christie Lee, Christie Lee Christie Lee, Christie Lee Oh the man took a calculated gamble Yes the man had the power to perform But Christie Lee was more than he knew how to handle She didn't need him as a man All she wanted was the horn They say that Joe became a wino They say he always drinks alone They say he stumbles like a blind man They say he sold his saxophone Even the band must face the music That's what the moral is to me The only time you hit the high note Is when you play for Christie Lee Christie Lee, Christie Lee Christie Lee, Christie Lee |
