Actually Im in class right now with mine, its great for my AutoCAD class cause then I dont need to email the file back and forth and worry about **** like that, plus its definatly much faster than the school computers (my college has a budget of about $2 for computers, and thats only cause the computer lab pimp themselves out at night). Overall Im happy with mine, it works pretty well for games, GTA Vice City runs almost flawlessly on it, LFS has some lag-problems, and Starcraft works fine. But if you dont need the portabilty, go for the desktop, you just get so much more for the $

Well.. ya'll are starting to convince me. i'm about to start the serious planning and purchasing to get ready for school....
I'm gonna start talking with the people that I know up there and see what they think.

I go to Georgia Tech, so laptops are about as common as people.
I picked up an HP nc6000 for $625. P4 M/Gb LAN/30GB HDD/G wireless...it's good to go. And I can play WoW on it.
But I also have a desktop...

I honestly don't see the point in having a laptop unless you are:
1) CS or CompE
2) You don't want a desktop
3) You need something to tune your car
I have 1 & 3 covered, haha.
