Laptop
#1
I'm getting a laptop soon and don't know much about whats good and whats not. I want a really nice one. Its for me to take to college. It needs to be ethernet compatible.
I really don't know what brands of laptops are good and which ones suck. I'm probably going to be in the 1100 to 1300 range, so I can splurge a little....
i'm going to be using it mostly for school work, but It will see some gaming and lots of music related stuff, so I want lots of hard drive space. I also want it to be pretty fast.
what do y'all think?

Hmm...IBM Thinkpads are priced within your range and you can sort of customize them from their site, give them a look. As for gaming...I'm not so sure, but I know I'm getting one for tuning/college. Good luck.
ok.. something to check out at least....

I got a dell inspiron 5100 for about $1300... it works pretty well, i wish it had more hard drive space (only 30 gigs), and Ive only had to use dell's service # twice... once they couldnt help, once they could. Besides that (and that every year or so you really should clean out the fan and heat sinks, but i think this applies to all laptops)(or maybe just cause I live in dirty NYC), Ive had no real problems with mine, and its great cause I can take it to class to do autocad etc.
