The point of the console shifter is to make the distance between the steering wheel and the shifter as small as possible....perhaps you've seen that style on rally cars.

Hey hr404, why does the size of the engine in the car matter so much? Haven't you learned anything from the rotary engine? Now, if Honda started putting out cars with forced induction, that'd be something, but it'll probably never happen.

actually, nope. (as in i haven't seen it)

quite honestly i find it sucketh my dicketh. how the hell can you "bang gears"/shift hard with that? i went to bang third and my hand just skimmed the top of the shifter and i punched the dash instead, of course after getting used to it it was easier, but annoying nonetheless.

cant compare a rally car to a commuter car honestly.

God forbid you can't "bang gears". That'll affect your mad kwik shifting, yo. If you're actually driving a car hard, as in around turns at high speeds, you'll want to have both hands on the wheel and you'll want to get your right hand off of the wheel, onto the shifter, and back onto the wheel as quickly as possible, which is why the shifter is closer. If you're out cruising with your high school friends and are working a pimp slouch, this will make it pretty tough to shift, so this obviously isn't the car for you. Just stick with your Durango and be happy.
