one thing we've learned is that you spend your money on lenses, any nikon lens fits on any nikon camera. you cheap out on the body though, because its already obsolete.
whatcha going to take pictures of?

Yes. The glass is the thing. A body is just a film holder with a shutter. Or a CCD thingie.
I think the best photos I've taken are landscapes. It's easier to shoot something that doesn't move.

Yah, I totally agree. Unless I can afford to get the best lens, I will wait until I can. Plus, I won't be able to truly take advantage of the uber nice lenses until I get better. Recently I have been borrowing my coworker's Nikon, and just came back from taking pictures of cars on Laguna Seca. I still have not learned how to pan and get the shot centered and focused. Need more practice.
I have a trip to Denmark and Germany planned for next year, so I will be taking quite a few outdoors/landscape shots. I was thinking about doing some hiking up around Ranch San Antonio to practice taking nice scenery pictures.

my wife surprises me this weekend with wanting a camera now, she is asking for a D60 which lucky for me is cheaper.
I just hope she actually uses it and it does not sit in the spare room along with the other crap we dont use.

I have a really good local store that happens to sell a ton of **** on ebay, I see they sell the D80, which you can get as cheap if not cheaper then the d60.
I think I would rather get the D80 then the D60, still be saving money for some lenses.
I guess the rage are these "VR" lenses?
