Finally broke down and bought an SLR:

Did a lot of research, talked with a few guys that are professional photographers, and the D80 was highly recommended. Bought that a 18-135mm Zoom Lens, and a Hoya lens filter kit.

The next step...learn how to take good pictures. LOL. J9 is really good, I just need a lot more practice I think.

Congratilations and welcome to the DSLR world. I have a Canon Xti. Its not on the same level as yours but owning one of these cameras has made me learn so much about photography that now I'm really comfortable taking photos. Stay away from flash photography until you get a good grasp of all the manual settings.

Good luck and learn learn learn!!!

For just the basics, its under a grand. But, I still could use additional lenses, filters, tripod, a bag. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

It all costs money...hahah

Nice rig!

Damn! They've got a zoom that goes as wide as 18mm? That's pretty cool.

Edit: Hmmmm. Is it this one?

"Nikon is pleased to announce the introduction of the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED, a compact, lightweight 7.5x zoom lens. Boasting a range of state-of-the-art optical technologies, this new lens offers outstanding performance at a remarkably affordable price.

The AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED features Nikon ED glass, aspherical lens elements and SWM (Silent Wave Motor) for enhanced performance. With a focal length range of 18-135mm, the lens is suitable for a wide variety of shooting situations; from sports, action and portraits to wide-angle landscapes. The picture angle is equivalent to a 27-202.5mm lens in the 35mm format."

Equivalent to a 27mm in 35 mm format. Not so impressive as I thought, and a tad slow. Still a nice piece, though. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif
