anyway it's called a K-turn by everyone in NJ pretty much. When i took my test he said "now go to the end and make a k-turn", my driving instructor said "now to practice k-turns", my little driving manual said "how to perform a k-turn correctly".
it's also known as a 3-point turn.
there's no "official" term, i could call it an x-turn because the motion resembles an x a lot more then a k, and i'd be right in my own fantasy land
