My most heartfelt sympathy to you and your loved ones. Talk to the insurance man as he is your best recourse. Go through Medicare/Medicaid to see what they can do for you. The hospital needs to identify the cause of her severe infection w dermatologic rash/fever to provide her with the best treatment and to see if there is a public health concern in your environment. Hospitals will accept payment arrangements. They can not refuse treatment nor provide substandard treatment because of your financial situation. Again, I feel for you and yours and hope she gets well as soon as possible, and best wishes to your father.

Sorry to here of your wifes illness, life has many strange ways of waking us up, to realize what is really important. Take this time to focus on her health and being there for her, the rest will play out as it always does. I have a client who went the hospital on an emergency basis, her bill ended up in excess of $75.000. She had no insurance. The hospital has a fund that they use for uninsured people, and sometimes will "write off" some of the charges. They also have to set accept payment of any size, and can not turn you into collection if you are paying your bill no matter how small the payment is. One other suggestion If your wife works outside the home file a Laber and industry claim. Until they diffinatively diagnose her condition they can't deny the claim. Sometimes this takes MONTHS, and this might give you some space to work out other arrangements. Just some ideas.

Wishing your wife a fast recovery and peace of mind for you.

Don't let the bastards get you down.

Hey guys, all this **** is going on with Scott, and he still has the decency to e-mail me the other day letting me know that I overpaid by $2 on a T-shirt order, and asking what I wanted to do about it.

Thats just shows ya what kind of guy he is.

Were here for you bro. I know everyone will step up for you if need be. Hang in there and I hope your wife is feeling better.

Mazdarot reminded me of a similar story my mom told me. Their was a teacher with a heart condition. She had a 200k insurance plan but she needed open heart surgery and nearly spent a month in the hospital if not longer. The bill was just shy of 400k. The insurance company wasn't going to pay the difference and she faught it. When it came time to go to court she withdrew her case because the hospital wrote of many of the bills. In the end she didn't have to pay a dime.

Don't feel bad because I am sure you feel helpless right now. Hospitals deal with this all the time. You are a hard working person and I doubt you are trying to take advatage of the system. Thing will work out for you
